The welcome and restaurant service by the staff. The decor,it was beautiful, the location, and spaciuosness of the room.
Pets were welcomed.Very noisy,especially other neighbour's bathrooms.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Fantastic location and views. Beautiful hotel and garden. Good breakfast.
The room had a paper ceiling. It made a noise as if with every step the upstairs neighbours made, it could collapse. Bathroom was poor: shower didn't always give hot water. Toilet leaked, leak in the ceiling.
Great location, very friendly staff and delicious breakfast!
I liked the attitude of the staff who were courteous, friendly and efficient.
The hotel is situated in a beautiful location in the heart of Shanklin Old Village. All members of the staff were very attentive and pleasant, which contributed to a very relaxing stay. We enjoyed our break and would not hesitate to return at a future date.
The views and location. Comfortable room. Large bathroom - bath and shower. Good breakfast
If price of evening meal was less, we would have eaten there. It wants to be more competatively priced and less fancy
Super location within walking distance of beach and town. We could park the car and forget about it for a few hours. Lovely staff who were very helpful and a fab breakfast. Super gardens where you could take advantage of the sea views.
We were really disappointed with the room for the price that we paid (£129). Everything was really clean in the room but in the bathroom there was some black mold around the bath seal that would easily clean off and little touches like the shower soap holder was broken off and the bath could only be filled via the shower head as the change over lever on the tap was stuck. The room could certainly do with an update as it felt very 1970s . The window had obviously been shortened to add a flat roof extension below so we had no view outside what so ever other than the sky while sitting in the room. This made it feel very claustrophobic and a little prison like. Had we been staying for longer I would certainly have mentioned this at reception but as we were only there for 1 night it seemed too much hassle to waste what little time we had there to do so.
Position really excellent, great vsea views. Quiet and relaxed atmosphere. Friendly and helpful staff.
Decor, too over the top and too much red everywhere.
Most welcoming and friendly. The staff are delightful and very helpful. We took a ten month old baby and they provided a travel cot and linen in the room and set up a table in the dining room with a highchair. The breakfast menu is generous and food cooked well. The 180 steps down and up from the beach were a challenge. The pool in the sister hotel is wonderful. All in all a charming...perhaps more suited to an older clientelle. Would recommend
Our daughters loved the indoor pool. We all enjoyed the breakfasts.
The children's dinner sounded enticing, but was structured in a way that really didn't work.
A great location close to town but yet 'out of town' with stunning sea views and no traffic noise. Comfortable and clean, good food but bedroom could do with an upgrade.
The hotel supplied the atmosphere and the service that we required for us to celebrate our 60 th. Anniversary of our meeting. It was very peaceful and calm. The staff could not have been more pleasant. Our room was very comfortable. The single adjustment we requested was executed immediately. The cuisine was varied, prepared beautifully and served hot and graciously. The location, for us, was perfect because the town was within easy walking distance. The staffing of the shops and restaurants in the town were also very helpful. Yes,we enjoyed the whole experience, the serenity, the comfort, the choice from the menus and of course the Isle of Wight. Many thanks to you all.. Joan and Alan Hodgson.
I cannot claim to say that I disliked the approach to the hotel. The parking was very good. I advise that entering, from the road, the arrival of guests would be enhanced if the supporting walls around the trees were cemented in and grouted in squarely as they would be in a landscaped garden. In the very near future it will be necessary to have the trees trimmed because as you will know "First impressions are very important" Alan Hodgson.
The friendliness of the staff especially reception and dining room. The quality of the food is excellent although I think the preferential rate should apply even if a booking is not made 48 hours prior to arrival.
The family room was cramped and the bathroom too small. We also found lights that did not work and a plug socket that did not appear safe.
Very polite, friendly and helpful staff. Wonderful sea views and very relaxing. Food was excellent. Beaches nearby and the town only a short walk. Also a lovely park nearby to enjoy. Sharing the neighbouring Luccombe Hall hotel facilities worked well also as we used the swimming pool and indoor hot tub, although Luccombe did have an outdoor hot tub for use. Would certainly visit again.
The bread used for toast was not the best quality.
A fabulous location on a very beautiful island where I had never been before........a terrific introduction to the place! Wonderful to have breakfast with such a view as that, with the brilliant morning sunshine reflected off the sea almost dazzling the eyes, and the ever-changing fascination of shipping in the distance, ranging from yachts to mighty cruise-liners!
Not so much a complaint but an observation, because although my room was otherwise spacious, quiet and comfortable, my particular shower-cubicle in the en-suite facilities was really too small to be practical. I can't speak for any of the other rooms of course. And hot water to it was also very very slow in coming. There is certainly space for something better and I would suggest the hotel should consider improving this.
